About Us
Hydroponics Tuesday is based entirely on our personal experiences during our gardening experiments. Here is a brief biography about us, and how we got started with hydroponics:
We're Ben and Jessica Yanis. We're amateur garden enthusiasts who live in the northern part of Delaware (a small northern state in the USA). Ben is a computer engineer, and spends the majority of his professional life managing a medical software company. Jessica is a studio-specialized fine artist.
As you might notice, neither of us are botanists. We're not professionals, and we're still learning more about plants and gardening every day. Hydroponics Tuesday originally started as a series of blog postings on our family website, www.barnyardbbs.com. We initially became interested in hydroponics after a visit to Epcot. Although we had been growing vegetables outdoors (and wheatgrass indoors), we were intrigued by what we saw at Epcot. We wanted to try it out for ourselves.
Eventually the hydroponics postings became the most popular part of our website. As the popularity increased, we started thinking about making a site specifically for our adventures in hydroponics. Since we've always posted our updates to the blog on Tuesday's; we decided to call the new venture "Hydroponics Tuesday".
